AC Milan still keen to sign Tevez despite Lopez deal

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani admits the club still want to sign Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez - but has revealed they have almost sealed a deal for Catania's Maxi Lopez and can only sign one of the two.
Milan have held talks with City about signing the Argentina international, but have so far failed to reach an agreement - with the Italian champions offering an initial loan deal with an option to buy, while City would prefer an immediate sale.
French side Paris St Germain and cross-city rivals Inter Milan are also interested in Tevez but the player himself is believed to prefer to join the Rossoneri, although Galliani is unsure if a deal will be possible.
"Tevez wants Milan? We also want Tevez," Galliani said on the club's official website. "We shall see, there are still seven days left until the end of the transfer window."
Milan have identified Catania striker Lopez as an alternative to Tevez, with terms already agreed with both the club and the player.
"If Tevez does not arrive, then Maxi Lopez will join us," Galliani added. "Either one or the other, certainly not the two of them."
He added: "I think he [Lopez] is already in Milan but we will now see what happens.
"His medical? We must be calm, we need to wait a few more days. Maxi Lopez is a player that interests us a lot and it's likely that he will arrive. The situation is very simple, we have an agreement with Catania and with the player."
Catania confirmed that they agreed terms for the player that Fulham tried to sign at the start of the January transfer window, although their chief executive hinted that AC Milan are not rushing to finalise the transfer.
"We have had an agreement with AC Milan for some time," Pietro lo Monaco said. "We have prevented Fulham from discussing terms. We now wait for Milan to make the next move."
