West Ham have completed the signing of highly-rated Manchester United youngster Ravel Morrison on a three-and-a-half-year deal.

Morrison, 18, had been tipped to achieve great things at Old Trafford but after failing to agree a new contract with him, United decided to cut their losses and sell the midfielder before his contract expired at the end of the season.

The England Under-19 international is thought to have cost the Hammers £650,000, rising to a potential £2.5 million with add-ons. Morrison said he was delighted to move to Upton Park and promised West Ham fans he will be doing his best to entertain them.

"I'm really pleased to have signed and I'm very happy," he said. "The move has happened very quickly and I'm looking forward to hopefully moving up to the Premier League with West Ham soon. I'm an attacking player and I'm hoping to get the fans on their feet. I met with Sam Allardyce this morning and he welcomed me here.

"I also played with Robert Hall in the England team and I know him well so that will be really helpful to have someone here that I know."
