Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is hopeful midfielder Paul Pogba will sign a new contract at Old Trafford.

Pogba's current deal expires in the summer and his future has recently been the subject of conjecture amid growing interest in his potential.

The Frenchman, 18, impressed during a 20-minute outing for United in their 2-0 win over Stoke on Tuesday night, and Ferguson is keen to reward him with fresh terms.

"Pogba did very well," Ferguson told the BBC. "The boy has great talent and tremendous physique for an 18-year-old. You can't believe it.

"We are negotiating his contract at the moment. It is a bit complicated at the moment because he has changed his agent a couple of times. But the boy wants to stay, that is obvious. Hopefully we can get it done soon."
