Anders Lindegaard is facing up to four weeks on the sidelines, which has opened the door for Ben Amos to stake his claim for regular football at Manchester United.

Lindeegaard suffered an ankle injury prior to United's win over Stoke on Tuesday and with David de Gea ruled out through illness, Amos was thrown in for his Premier League bow.

The 21-year-old kept a clean sheet in the 2-0 victory and is hopeful of having done enough to remain in the team for this weekend's big clash with Chelsea.

"I've obviously been waiting a long time for an opportunity this season and thankfully it's come and I'd like to think I've made the most of it," Amos said. "I feel I've been ready to play at this level all season.

"It can be frustrating when the chances don't come around but you've got to be ready. When it does happen, you're thrown straight in as I was.

"All I can do is go out and do my best and put pressure on the other keepers in training and try to get a chance in the games. But it's the manager's decision."
