Tevez sits out testimonial in Argentina

Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez was present for former international team-mate Martin Palermo's testimonial match but did not play in the encounter.
Tevez was quoted as saying he wanted to make an appearance for former club Boca Juniors at the Bombonera stadium in Buenos Aires for Palermo's farewell game, but instead he merely arrived on the field at half-time and waved to supporters. The fans responded by giving the forward a standing ovation and chanting: "Leave the English and come back here."
Boca Juniors president Daniel Angelici had earlier said that the club would happily bring Tevez into their squad felt it would be in their interests to boost the striker's fitness ahead of the summer window.
"If Tevez arrives for free then we would be happy to have him," Angelici told Todo Noticias. "If Manchester City call us and say that they need him to play games, our doors are always open."
Manchester City have so far shown little inclination to allow Tevez to leave on anything other than a permanent deal, though, and despite his continued exile in Argentina they opened the door to a potential return when naming him in their 25-man squad for the Premier League.
"If he comes back - and he is fit - it is possible," Roberto Mancini said. "Carlos is not an option at the moment but it is possible in the future if he comes back.
"I hope for him he has been training in the last three months to help his condition. There is only one thing on my mind, the Premier League."
The Sunday Mirror has claimed Corinthians have reignited their interest in signing Tevez, with the Brazilian transfer window still open for business and the player apparently remaining eager to return to a South American club.
