David Bentley could spend the rest of the season at a Major League Soccer club in the United States after seeing his career at Tottenham hit the wall.

Bentley, 27, was one of the most in-form wingers in England when he moved to Spurs from Blackburn Rovers for £15 million four years ago.

But he is now nowhere near the Spurs first team and was loaned out to Birmingham City last season. He was loaned to Championship club West Ham United for the 2011-12 season but suffered a serious knee injury in October and returned to White Hart Lane.

The player is now close to a return to action and, according to his agent, Rob Segal, feels a spell in the USA could be perfect to complete his rehabilitation.

"This is something that is really interesting for David, as it will also get him fit through the summer," Segal told MLSsoccer.com. "He would like to go there on loan as soon as possible."
