Paul Scholes has tipped his Manchester United team-mate Ryan Giggs to succeed manager Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford.

Ferguson has given no indication that he is ready to step aside, but with him in his 71st year, talk on his successor is only likely to increase.

Major names in the game such as Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola have been linked, but it has been claimed that the club may look for continuity from within. And with that in mind, Scholes feels his fellow one-club man Giggs, who recently penned a new deal, is well placed to take on the role.

"People have talked about Mourinho," he told FourFourTwo. "It can change quickly - it's about who is successful at the time.

"Whether they are British or foreign, you just want the best man for the job. I could see Ryan Giggs becoming manager."
