Andre Villas-Boas has conceded John Terry may miss Chelsea's Champions League last-16 trip to Napoli, due to an ongoing knee problem.

Terry did not feature in the matchday squad for Saturday's FA Cup fifth-round tie at home to Birmingham. Villas-Boas was forced to partner Gary Cahill with David Luiz at the heart of his defence.

Chelsea have a short turnaround before their trip to Napoli, a game that takes place just three days after the Birmingham encounter. The Tuesday kick-off means Terry has little time to prove his fitness to his boss.

The England man is recovering from a knee problem, and Villas-Boas revealed he will not know if Terry is fit to play in Italy until the squad arrives on foreign soil.

"There is a 50-50 chance of him making it," Villas-Boas told ESPN. "At the moment we have to wait and see.

"He will travel with the team and we will make the decision after Monday."
