John Terry has thrown his support behind Andre Villas-Boas, with the Chelsea captain insisting he has "full confidence" in the manager.

Terry has not featured since the end of January and is facing up to another six weeks on the sidelines with a knee injury.

Chelsea have not won since Terry was forced onto the sidelines and are in danger of finishing the season empty handed.

There is huge pressure on Villas-Boas, which increased when club owner Roman Abramovich questioned the team selection for the defeat to Napoli in the Champions League in midweek.

Villas-Boas' position is under threat, with talk of unrest in the squad, but Terry has backed manager and players to turn things around.

"Quite simply, the next few weeks will define our season," Terry told Chelsea's official matchday programme. "I'd give anything to be involved at this time.

"During tough times, we all have to stay together as one and the players have to stand up and be counted.

"I am disappointed about having to undergo an operation, but, believe me, I tried everything to return quickly. However, I am on the mend now and I hope to be back on the pitch sooner rather than later.

"In the meantime, I have full confidence in the team and the manager to get the results we need in the coming weeks.

"We strive to continue building on the history of Chelsea - which means qualifying for the Champions League, pushing for a place at the top of the table and competing for trophies. Let's set about doing that."
