Juan Martin del Potro fired a warning to the likes of Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal as he claimed his first title of the season at the Open 13 in Marseille.

The Argentinean showed signs that he is back to his best after claiming his 10th career ATP Tour title with a comfortable 6-4 6-4 win over home favourite Michael Llodra.

The former US Open champion, who is returning to form following a serious wrist injury in 2010, conceded just 13 points on serve as he swept past the Frenchman in 82 minutes.

Del Potro fired 11 aces and did not face a single break point as a single break in either set saw him complete a comprehensive victory.

Having reached the final in Rotterdam last week, Del Potro's win will serve as a warning to the game's top players that the world No. 10 is approaching his best form.

"It is a really nice moment. I'm really glad to win this tournament," he said. "I think that sometimes I play smarter than three or four years ago."
