Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Jan Vertonghen would be a big success at White Hart Lane, according to his defensive partner at Ajax, Toby Alderweireld.

Vertonghen has been heavily linked with a move to Spurs after manager Harry Redknapp watched the Ajax captain's impressive performances against Manchester United in the Europa League recently.

Following those ties, Ajax manager Frank de Boer said the Belgium international was ready for a move to the Premier League - and team-mate Alderweireld believes Spurs would be the perfect destination.

"Tottenham Hotspur would be a good club for him," Alderweireld told Voetbal International. "They compete at the top and in a beautiful league and also he would have a good chance to be a starting player. For Jan, this is a much more important consideration than just a big bag of money."
