Andre Villas-Boas has admitted his Chelsea side were "extremely bad" in the loss to West Brom and insisted "300 per cent" improvement will be needed for next week's FA Cup replay with Birmingham.

Villas-Boas is under huge pressure at Stamford Bridge and a 1-0 defeat to West Brom served to hand the critics extra ammunition.

The Portuguese has been steadfast in his determination to keep working and he once again deflected questions about his future, stressing it is up to the board to make those decisions. It was the performance of his team that he was keen to focus on.

"In all sense of the word it was not to the Chelsea standard," he said. "We did extremely well with the same team against Bolton, we did extremely bad today. It is very disappointing, everybody is disappointed.

"We were fine tuned and motivated to do well, but West Brom were much better on the day. They were far, far superior and got what they deserved."

Cheslea face Birmingham in midweek and Villas-Boas is looking for major improvement. He said: "We go into the game against Birmingham. To be in with the chance in the competition, maybe the one we are looking better, we will have to improve 300 per cent. We have shown in the past we have come back from situations."

Commenting on his own future, Villas-Boas said: "I just get on with my job, it is the owners who have the power and only them who can talk."
