Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been charged with improper conduct by UEFA following the Gunners Champions League clash with AC Milan.

The Gunners produced a brilliant effort to claim a 3-0 win on the night, but slipped to a 4-3 aggregate success following an abject effort in the first leg.

The performance of referee Damir Skomina did not impress Wenger who vented his frustration on the touchline and is also reported to have approached the official in the tunnel after the game.

Asked about the officials in his post-match press conference, Wenger said: "I was not happy with the referee tonight because I felt he gave many free-kicks in the middle of the park.

"Every time they went down a free-kick was given for them, and they sensed that very quickly and they used it very well."

UEFA has taken a dim view of Wenger's actions and the governing body has meted out an improper conduct charge.

A UEFA spokesman said: "A disciplinary case has been opened for improper conduct."

If the case is proved and Wenger is given a touchline ban, it will be the third time within the space of a year he has been given such a sanction by UEFA.
