Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho has apparently ruled out a return to Chelsea, claiming he intends to pen a new contract with the La Liga leaders.

Mourinho is reportedly the Blues hierarchy's preferred choice to take over from Andre Villas-Boas, who was sacked last weekend after a poor run of results left Chelsea fifth in the Premier League table.

Real are ten points clear of rivals Barcelona at the top of La Liga and seemingly destined to walk away with that crown - yet Mourinho has been making noises about coming back to the Premier League, fuelling speculation he could once again take the hotseat at Stamford Bridge, where he was in charge between 2004 and 2007.

However, the 49-year-old claims his future lies in Madrid. "I am going to sign a new contract with Real Madrid," Mourinho said, according to the Daily Mail. "I would like to have a place in the club's history. Real Madrid and I share a project and we are going to carry on with it.

"Being part of this team is a fantastic and unforgettable experience for a manager like me. Madrid is one of the biggest clubs in the world and I feel happy here. I feel they trust me here and I feel I have the complete support of all the directors and fans."

Chelsea face Stoke at Stamford Bridge on Saturday under the interim leadership of Roberto di Matteo, who was operating as assistant to Villas-Boas.
