Micah Richards is eagerly anticipating the return to action of Carlos Tevez and has said that the Argentine is exactly the type of player Manchester City need as they fight for the Premier League title.

According to City manager Roberto Mancini the 28-year-old is 10 days away from playing for the first team having last featured back in September, and could make his comeback against Chelsea after a much-publicised falling out with the Italian was recently patched up.

City were overtaken at the top of the league by cross-city rivals Manchester United on Sunday after losing 1-0 at Swansea - the second consecutive game in which they have failed to score - and defender Richards maintains that Tevez's scoring touch is needed as the final run-in commences.

"I have always been a big fan of Tevez, I love him," said Richards. "There were games last season where he carried us on his own and in these sort of games he would get a 1-0 win for us.

"It's up to the manager ultimately but I would love to see him back."

Analysing City's recent form, Richards added: "We have to take every game as it comes. We need to go back and see where we went wrong here and why we are not scoring as many goals as we used to.

"Teams are defending better against us. At the start of the season we were scoring, four, five or six goals a game but in the last two games we have not hit the net and it is something we want to look at and improve on in next couple of games."
