Get Tevez to rescue City's season - Toure

Manchester City defender Kolo Toure has called on Roberto Mancini to re-introduce Carlos Tevez to the starting XI in order to re-ignite their faltering season at a crucial time.

City have been knocked off top spot in the league and are now out of Europe after losing on away goals to Sporting in the Europa League on Thursday. Having been the dominant side in England for most of the season, the Eastlands club now face the very real possibility of ending the campaign empty-handed.

Thursday's game showed signs of fight in Mancini's side, who battled from two goals down on the night to win 3-2 against their Portuguese opposition. Had an injury-time header from goalkeeper Joe Hart not finished on the wrong side of a post, they may have been celebrating a magnificent comeback.

Now they must focus all their efforts on the league, with Chelsea next on the agenda. Mancini has admitted that Tevez - AWOL for months after a high-profile fallout with the club - could feature, and Toure is desperate to see the Argentinian kick-start City's title run-in.

"I can't wait to see him in this team," Toure told Sky Sports News. "He's a fighter, he's a strong competitor. He's a great player.

"His quality is fantastic.

"We've shown with the quality we showed when we played against [United], we've been on top for almost eight months. This team has the power, and now we just need to believe and, game-by-game, give 100 per cent."
