The agent of Chelsea star Michael Essien has told the Italian media that nothing will be decided on the Ghanaian's future until the naming of the new Chelsea manager.

Essien, 29, had been linked with a move to Serie A giants Juventus, but agent Fabien Piveteau says nothing will be decided until Chelsea name a permanent manager, now likely to take place in the summer

"Right now there is nothing and I have not heard from any Italian club," Piveteau said to Calciomercato. "Is he happy at Chelsea? He is going through a difficult time but only because he has come back from a serious injury.

"I have spoken to Chelsea and they said they are happy but in football you can't guarantee what happens in the future. He has three years left on his contract but it depends on who will coach Chelsea in the summer."

Essien recently made a return from a long lay-off with a serious knee injury to play a key role in Chelsea's Champions League victory over Napoli.

First up for Essien and interim manager Roberto di Matteo though is to ensure that the club grab fourth place in the Premier League and qualify for next season's edition of Europe's premier club competition.
