The FA Cup semi-final draw threw up two potential derby encounters as Chelsea were matched with Tottenham or Bolton in the last four, while Liverpool could face Everton if the Toffees overcome Sunderland.

Only two of the four FA Cup semi-finalists are known, after Everton were held 1-1 by Sunderland at Goodison Park on Saturday, while Tottenham's clash with Bolton was abandoned after Fabrice Muamba suffered a cardiac arrest.

Liverpool, who beat Stoke on Sunday, could face Everton if the Toffees overcome Sunderland in their replay. The Merseyside duo have enjoyed some memorable Wembley FA Cup battles in the past, with the Reds earning the bragging rights in the 1986 and 1989 finals.

On the other side of the draw, Chelsea are already through after they beat Leicester 5-2 and could face high-flying Tottenham if the North London club beat Bolton when they meet again.

The semi-final ties are scheduled to be played on the weekend of April 14 and 15, and Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is convinced the Reds' tie will be on the Saturday in order to avoid playing on the anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster.

"We won't play on the 15th. The FA and UEFA have always been exemplary and very supportive, and that's great credit to them, so I don't think it's even worth a line in a paper that we might play on the 15th because we won't," Dalglish said. "We've never played on the 15th before, have we? So there you are. Why would they change now?"
