Bolton manager Owen Coyle has said that the global display of support for Fabrice Muamba has been "humbling", as the midfielder remains in a critical condition at London's Chest Hospital.

Earlier Coyle had expressed his gratitude to the football community for its show of support, and in an address to the media on the steps of the hospital on Monday morning the Scot added further thanks.

"The Premier League, the FA, the PFA, the LMA, the support from within the game has been fantastic. We have received support from clubs throughout the world.

"When you see the stars of Real Madrid showing their shirts, Gary Cahill yesterday, David Beckham has sent messages of support. That all shows you the opinion people have of Fabrice as a man, as a person, and that for me is so humbling to see."

Coyle continued: "What I would like to say on behalf of the family is thanks for the messages of goodwill and the prayers from everybody, they're so thankful and they want to put that on record to say keep up the prayers, thanks for all the support. They've been inundated, as we all have, both in the football community globally and family and friends.

"People have just taken a genuine interest and real concern for how Fabrice is doing. We all know he is such a wonderful lad, he's a young man, and we hope that will help in this brave fight he is undergoing at the moment."

Coyle added: "Today is a day we wait and we hope for continued improvement. We are all hopeful of a positive outcome."
