Djibril Cisse will face Liverpool with his QPR side on Wednesday, still smarting from the way he was moved on from Anfield in 2006.

Cisse joined Liverpool under the Gerard Houllier reign in 2004, but was deemed surplus to requirements by Rafa Benitez and sold to Marseille.

The striker has no issue with being moved on, but the manner in which he was told he was not needed still rankles with the 30-year-old.

"It wasn't my decision to leave," Cisse is quoted as saying in the Sun. "I was away with the national side when Benitez said I wasn't in his plans.

"But it was funny, he told me he was letting me go because he needed pace up front.

"Now, I believe I can do the 100 metres in less than 11 seconds. So I asked him who he was going to sign - Carl Lewis or Usain Bolt?

"I said to him, 'Don't tell me you need pace.' It's like saying to Lionel Messi you need technique. I was upset."
