Dalglish at a loss to explain QPR comeback

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish could not find an explanation for his side's collapse against QPR on Wednesday.

The Merseyside club were 2-0 up at Loftus Road with just over 15 minutes remaining in the Premier League contest, but somehow contrived to lose 3-2 after Jamie Mackie grabbed an injury-time winner for the relegation-threatened Hoops.

Dalglish once again bemoaned a lack of cutting edge in front of goal, although he did not believe QPR deserved anything from the game.

"I don't think anybody saw it coming. The players started the game fantastically, but the only thing missing was a bit of luck in front of goal," Dalglish said. "I couldn't see them getting a goal. I can't explain it. Maybe the luck they didn't get at Bolton they got tonight.

"Most of the game we were dominant, creative, professional."

Dalglish's opposite number Mark Hughes was more upbeat, however, claiming that the victory would spark his side to stay out of trouble over the remainder of the campaign.

"It is a huge win for us. You expect a team of Liverpool's quality to close the game out," Hughes noted.

"The manner of win will give us confidence, showed belief, drive, determination - things you need to get out of situation we are in."
