Chelsea defender Gary Cahill is confident his side can overhaul Tottenham to claim fourth in the Premier League - especially if they beat their London rivals this weekend.

The Blues are currently five points behind Spurs in the battle for the final Champions League qualification spot despite losing 2-1 to Manchester City on Wednesday, after Tottenham were only able to claim a 1-1 draw against Stoke City at White Hart Lane.

The result was the latest in a series of disappointments for Harry Redknapp and his side, who have now not won in the Premier League since demolishing Newcastle 5-0 on February 11.

Chelsea, in contrast, had embarked on something of a revival under Roberto Di Matteo prior to their Etihad setback, and Cahill hopes they can get back to winning ways on Saturday and give themselves a great chance of qualifying for Europe's premier club competition next season.

"Arsenal are having decent form and Spurs have been hit the last few games," Cahill noted. "It is hard to keep that momentum going throughout the season.

"Spurs have been absolutely fantastic but it is tough to keep it going every single game week in, week out.

"You'll always have a blip in the season and maybe theirs has come now."

Spurs have not won at Stamford Bridge since 1990, and Cahill notes now would not be the time for that streak to come to an end.

"We're at home, where we have some confidence now and we are looking to get the positive result we need," he added.

"We have built some momentum of late and the camp is positive at the minute."
