Arsenal striker Carlos Vela has admitted that his preference would be to remain in Spain once his loan spell at La Liga club Real Sociedad comes to an end this summer.

The Mexican has scored nine times for Real this season, including a double at the weekend in a 2-2 draw at Espanyol, and whilst no decision has yet been made on his future Vela has confirmed he would be more open to staying in Spain as opposed to returning to north London.

"In every game, whether I play well or badly, I am not thinking about what Arsenal think of me. I give all my effort for Real Sociedad," the 23-year-old told Diario Vasco. "Afterwards I will talk with them and make a decision. The best thing is for me to enjoy every moment that is left.

"From my point of view, from a footballing and lifestyle standpoint, it is better to stay in this league. I have a contract with an English team and if I have to return there I will adapt, but if I could stay here I would be happier."

Real Sociedad manager Philippe Montanier admitted that Vela's impact at the San Sebastian outfit had been impressive, but reiterated that the player's future would only be decided at the end of the season.

"He is an important player. It would be great if he continued here, but right now he's concentrating on giving his all to help the team," said Montanier.

"It's true he's in great form. He's helping his team-mates, but his aim is the same as that of all the other players: playing the best game he possibly can against Real Betis (on Tuesday). Then we'll see what the future brings. That will come later."
