Carroll now a Liverpool legend - Carragher
Jamie Carragher has claimed Andy Carroll will go down in Liverpool folklore following his winning goal against Everton in the FA Cup semi-final.
Carroll has come in for criticism following his £35m transfer from Newcastle, but Carragher joked that he repaid the fee with his goal that capped a Reds comeback.
Having fallen behind to a Nikica Jelavic goal, Luis Suarez drew Liverpool level before Carroll headed home late in the day.
"He (Carroll) will be remembered forever - a goal against Everton in a semi-final," Carragher told the club's official website. "That goal's worth £35 million on its own, for me!
"And Suarez - I wouldn't swap him for any player in the league."
Commenting on the result that books the Reds' place in the final, Carragher said: "It's relief, really. Losing to Everton would have been an absolute nightmare.
"We showed what Liverpool are about. David Moyes said the whole country was with them but we're a special club with special fans. Not many teams could come back.
"We did it before in 1986 when Everton were 1-0 up at half-time and we've done it again. We've got that ability to come back.
"Liverpool are expected to be in finals and win trophies. We've won one, let's win another."
