Blackburn need two massive results - Kean
April 29, 2012
Blackburn manager Steve Kean admits his side need "two monumental performances'' to stay in the Premier League after a 2-0 defeat at Tottenham.
Rovers remain second bottom, three points shy of safety with just six available to play for. Goals from Rafael van der Vaart and Kyle Walker sealed the win for Spurs, who moved back into fourth place, while Blackburn failed to muster a single attempt on goal.
Wigan and Chelsea await Kean's side and he knows they must produce significantly improved displays if they are to have any chance.
"It's tough but we have to look at the positives. We need two monumental performances and two massive results,'' he told Sky Sports.
"We've got Wigan up next, if we beat Wigan we go to Chelsea and we keep going, keep chasing.
"We've had many monumental performances this season. some really good home wins, some back-to-back clean sheets. We'll probably need that again and I have trust and faith in the lads.''
Referring to his side's toothless display going forward, Kean acknowledged he expected better. "I think today, going forward, we never got our passes off,'' he said.
"When you don't circulate the ball well enough and don't get quality into the front two you're not going to ask any questions of the defenders. That's frustrating.''
