Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby is set to be ruled out of the European Championships after suffering a thigh injury against Stoke City on Saturday.

Diaby has seen has campaign ravaged by injury problems, making just five appearances for the Gunners all season.

He made his return to Premier League action after a hamstring injury in the previous weekend's draw against Chelsea at Emirates Stadium, but broke down once again with a calf complaint against Stoke at the Britannia Stadium after coming on as a substitute.

Diaby had been in contention for France's Euros squad and national team boss Laurent Blanc will be monitoring Diaby's progress closely - with Les Bleus set to face England on June 11 in Donetsk.

The former Bordeaux manager - who has recently been linked with the Chelsea job - may not be willing to risk a place in his 23-man squad on the player if he cannot be fit for the opening group game.

Arsenal's medical team are evaluating his latest setback, although it is unlikely he will play again this season.

The player has reportedly told friends in France that he fears his latest injury is serious enough to put him out of action for most of the summer.
