Marko Marin hopes that Roberto Di Matteo is at the Chelsea helm when he joins the club in the summer.

Chelsea confirmed at the weekend they have agreed a deal to sign Marin from Werder Bremen at the end of the season, with reports suggesting a fee in the region of £7 million will change hands.

Di Matteo is currently the interim manager of the Blues following Andre Villas-Boas' departure, and he has impressed in the role, guiding his side to FA Cup and Champions League finals.

Marin, 23, is eagerly anticipating his switch to Stamford Bridge, with the Germany international confident he can impress in the Premier League.

He told German football magazine Kicker: "It fits perfectly for me, otherwise I would not have sought this move. Above all, Chelsea's play is based a lot on wide men. I had good talks with Di Matteo and I hope he stays.

"I have done my research (by speaking to former Chelsea striker Claudio Pizarro) but I'm not afraid, it's the perfect step for me."

Marin made his Germany debut in 2008 and was part of their 2010 World Cup squad. However, he has spent much of this season on the sidelines due to injury and is not assured of a place in Joachim Low's squad for Euro 2012.
