Botafogo not moving for Arsenal's Santos

Brazilian side Botafogo have rejected reports that they could sign Arsenal full-back Andre Santos.

Santos, 29, signed for Arsenal from Fenerbahce last summer for around £6 million but the wing-back has made just nine Premier League starts since the switch due to struggles with injury and competition from Kieran Gibbs.

Recent speculation had suggested Botafogo could swoop for the Brazil international this summer, but the club have moved to quell the conjecture.

Botafogo's vice-president Andre Silva told Lance: "Andre [Santos] is our friend but he is not coming to Botafogo at this time".

Santos's agent Carlos Leite added: "There is zero chance Andre could join Botafogo now."
