QPR won't worry about relegation again - Hughes

Mark Hughes has promised that QPR will never be at risk of relegation from the Premier League again while he is the club's manager.

The west London club stayed up on a dramatic final day of action, despite losing 3-2 to eventual title winners Manchester City on Sunday. Bolton were demoted to the Championship at the expense of QPR, and Hughes has pledged that the club will never again suffer the same nervy finish to a season while he remains in charge.

"I was very much emotionally and physically involved in the game, but I imagine it was absolutely unbelievable to watch," Hughes told the BBC. "Credit to Manchester City and congratulations... but most of all my club QPR were magnificent today.

"Really, really difficult circumstances coming into this game but we stuck at it. I'm really happy for everyone at the club because, as far as I'm concerned, we will never be in this situation again while I am manager.

"We've crossed a bridge that looked too far for us. Since I've come in it's been difficult but we've kept at it and we've got our reward."

Hughes admitted that it would have been nice to win the game - QPR were leading until injury time - but praised the players for their performance.

"In truth I'm a little bit flat because I'm disappointed we didn't win, but I guess in the circumstances that's a little bit greedy," he added. "I suppose everyone is going home happy but from our point of view we're just delighted to still be in the Premier League.

"I gave the players a gameplan, but it was up to them to execute it and today I thought to a man they were excellent."
