Ledley King admits he is not sure whether or not he will be offered a new deal at Tottenham Hotspur in the near future.

England international King, who is having another operation on his troublesome right knee this week, will be out of contract this summer.

He has made 23 starts this season, having notched just nine during the previous campaign, but his form has not always been up to the level Spurs fans have come to expect down the years.

And there is a chance that King may have played his last game for the club he joined in 1998. "Now the season is done I am sure there will be some talks," King said.

"To be honest, I am not entirely sure what's going on [in terms of a contract offer]. I have just wanted to concentrate on trying to play and get my knee right."

Spurs finished fourth in the Premier League table, having at one point looked like genuine title contenders. Despite their late-season slump, King insists the White Hart Lane outfit have plenty of reason for cheer.

"Overall I think it has been a good campaign for us," King said. "Obviously we are disappointed to have fallen short of winning anything, but getting in the top four is a good achievement considering the number of top teams there are in the league.

"It's tough to go from where we were the season before to trying to win the league."
