QPR plan new training facility

QPR have announced plans to move to a new state of the art training ground next summer, planning permission permitting.

Rangers, who successfully avoided relegation from the Premier League on Sunday, confirmed this afternoon they will move to the 63-acre Warren Farm sports centre, West London, ahead of the 2013-14 season if they receive the required planning permission from Ealing council.

The London club plan to house their first-team and youth squads at their new base, which will include grass and artificial pitches as well as an outdoor dome and physio facilities.

The Warren Farm site currently includes around 20 football pitches but some that surround the playing areas of the buildings are derelict or in need of a major refurbishment.

QPR's current training ground in Harlington is below Premier League standards and chairman Tony Fernandes hopes this move will help attract top stars to Loftus Road.

He said: "This decision means we are now in a position to build a new state-of-the-art facility which will enable us to attract, retain and train world class talent.

"We already have a first class senior management team in place, with Mark Hughes at the helm, and the recent appointment of our new technical director, Mike Rigg, is further testament to what we are striving to achieve here. Clearly though, to achieve such goals, a new training ground facility is paramount so we are absolutely delighted.''
