Napoli forward Edinson Cavani has reiterated his desire to represent Uruguay at the Olympic games.

Cavani, 25, is highly-rated having impressed in Serie A for Napoli, whom he joined from Palermo in 2010, scoring 23 goals in the league this season.

The attacker is keen to represent his nation in London this summer, but his club are reluctant to sanction his availability, following a congested domestic campaign.

"I want to go to the Olympics in London. I have already expressed my desire (to go) in public,'' he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"I have discussed the issue of the Olympic Games with the club's leadership and I made it clear that my major interest is to join the squad. I've tried to simplify the path, (but) I am willing to fight to get the Games.''
