Arsenal striker Robin van Persie will wait to see what offers he receives from other clubs before making a decision about his long-term future at the club.

Van Persie is out of contract next summer, with clubs including Manchester City, Barcelona and Juventus all strongly linked with a bid for the 28-year-old forward.

The Dutchman held initial contract talks with Gunners boss Arsene Wenger and chief executive Ivan Gazidis on Thursday, but no resolution was forthcoming as Van Persie questioned the club's ability to challenge for major honours.

Van Persie joined up with the Netherlands squad for the impending European Championship on Thursday, and has now reportedly decided to wait until his country's involvement in the tournament has come to an end before sitting down for a second meeting with Wenger and the north London club.

In that time, Van Persie will evaluate any interest shown from other clubs - as he sits on Arsenal's current contract offer, believed to be around £130,000-a-week including a £5 million signing bonus.

Manchester City football development executive Patrick Vieira believes Van Persie will receive no shortage of offers, after admitting the Premier League champions are intrigued by the possibility of signing him.

"I don't think it will only be City who would like these kind of players," Vieira said. "I don't think you have so many good talents like Van Persie who have just one year left on his contract.

"There will be a lot of teams who will want a player like Van Persie."

Van Persie was named the PFA footballer of the year for an impressive season that saw him score 37 goals for his club.
