Emmanuel Adebayor has confirmed he is in talks with Tottenham Hotspur about making his stay at White Hart Lane permanent.

Adebayor, 28, joined Tottenham on a season-long loan from Manchester City last summer and went on to score 17 goals in 33 Premier League matches for the club.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has made it clear he would like to prolong the Togo international's stay with the club, but admits his hefty wages at City could prove a stumbling block.

Adebayor, though, is hopeful an agreement can be found. The striker wrote on his official Twitter account: "Loved my spell at Tottenham. We are working hard with the chairman (Daniel Levy) to make it permanent. Will keep you informed!!"

There has been no word from City on Adebayor's future, but it is likely he is surplus to requirements given the attacking talent that carried the club to Premier League glory this season.
