Deschamps dampens Liverpool link

Didier Deschamps has poured cold water on reports linking him with the Liverpool job by insisting he expects to be at Marseille next season.

Deschamps was considered by the Reds as a replacement for Rafa Benitez two years ago, and with the manager's job once again up for grabs at Anfield following the sacking of Kenny Dalglish, he has been discussed as a potential candidate.

But Deschamps, who led Marseille to a disappointing finish of tenth in Ligue 1 this season, feels that his future lies at the Stade Velodrome.

"It is expected that I will be there [Marseille] next season," Deschamps said. "When it goes badly, there is need to recharge. I will leave on vacation but it is expected that I be there [Marseille] for July 2."

Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers and Ajax chief Frank de Boer have both ruled themselves out of the Liverpool running, while Andre Villas-Boas and Wigan's Roberto Martinez are expected to hold talks with the owners soon on American soil.
