Ryan Giggs is desperate for the chance to represent Team GB alongside former Manchester United team-mate David Beckham at London 2012.

Giggs and Beckham could be named as two of three overage players in the 18-man squad which is made up of 15 players under the age of 23.

Stuart Pearce has already confirmed he will not select players who are involved with England at Euro 2012, meaning the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Danny Welbeck will be unavailable for this summer's Olympic tournament.

And Giggs has urged Pearce to give fans the chance to see him play alongside Beckham for the first time since the former England captain joined Real Madrid in 2003.

"Becks is obviously a friend of mine and he's a great player and still remains that," Giggs said. "I started my career with him in the youth team. Twenty years later to be still doing that would be great."

The Welsh FA, along with the governing bodies of Scotland and Northern Ireland, fears that a Great Britain side will undermine their independence in the future. However, Giggs, who retired from Wales in 2007, is relishing the chance to play on the international stage one last time.

"I've put myself forward to be involved," he said. "Whether I get picked we'll have to wait and see. Everybody is excited about the Olympics coming to London and to different parts of Britain. I've spoken to Stuart, but I think the majority of players have."

Pearce must submit a provisional list of 35 players before June 8, before a final squad is confirmed by July 6.
