Hargreaves released by City
Manchester City have confirmed they will not be offering a new contract to Owen Hargreaves and the midfielder has subsequently been released by the club.
Hargreaves, 31, signed for City last summer after leaving rivals Manchester United, having been plagued by injuries during his time at Old Trafford.
His fitness woes continued at the Etihad Stadium, as he played just four times - with just one of those appearances coming in the Premier League - while he scored a solitary goal in a Carling Cup victory over Birmingham.
Hargreaves' last outing came in the 3-2 FA Cup third-round defeat to United on January 8 when he played the final eight minutes.
