Juventus are close to sealing a deal for highly-rated Manchester United youngster Paul Pogba, according to the club's general director Giuseppe Marotta.

Pogba, 19, has been at the centre of a tug-of-war between the two sides for some time, with his current deal at Old Trafford set to expire this summer.

Juventus have made no secret of their desire to bring Pogba to Turin and have been in close contact with the player's Italian agent Mino Raiola, who brought former Ajax youngster Ousmane Bouy to the club in January.

Marotta told Corriere dello Sport: "We have lured him away from Manchester United. We respected the rules. Pogba, for his own reasons, didn't intend to renew. We informed the club and we are now waiting for an answer. Talks are well advanced."

However, when asked about supposed Juventus interest in high-profile strikers Mario Balotelli and Edinson Cavani, Marotta played down the reports as pure media speculation.

"We have never thought about Balotelli. He doesn't fit the profile we are looking at, a profile which isn't based solely on technical ability," he added. "Cavani? You always have to consider the wishes of the clubs which own the players."
