Barry set for decisive Monday scan

Gareth Barry will undergo a scan on his injured hamstring on Monday, after which England manager Roy Hodgson will decide whether to include him in his final England squad for the European Championship.

Barry came on as a second half substitute in the victory over Norway on Saturday, but limped off with 17 minutes remaining after feeling a pain in his leg.

Hodgson must submit his finalised 23-man squad for the Euros to UEFA on Tuesday, and the former West Brom manager will now wait on the result of Barry's scan before making his decision.

Monday could prove a crucial date for Hodgson, with Glen Johnson (infected toe) and Danny Welbeck (ankle) also set to undergo final assessments on niggling injuries that have prevented them from training in recent days and kept them out of the Oslo friendly.

If Barry is ruled out of the Euros in Poland and Ukraine, Jordan Henderson is the player most likely to be called in to replace him. The Liverpool midfielder replaced Barry on Saturday, and is the one central midfielder on Hodgson's reserve squad list.

Hodgson has already been forced to make one amendment to his initial selection, with young goalkeeper Jack Butland coming in to replace the injured John Ruddy.
