West Brom set to miss out on Ranieri
Former Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri is close to being named as the new manager of French side AS Monaco, reports in France suggest.
Ranieri, who had an unsuccessful stint at the helm of Inter Milan last season, looks set to assume the manager's position at Monaco as they bid to return to Ligue 1 at the second attempt.
The Italian's last major trophy as a manager was the 1999 Copa del Rey with Valencia, but he has a good record of acheiving promotion from the Italian second tier - having acheived the feat three times.
Linked with West Brom, Ranieri appears to have decided to take over at the Stade Louis II this summer. Monaco recovered from a disastrous start to life in Ligue 2 to finish 8th at the end of the 2011-12 campaign.
