Norwich reject Lambert's resignation
Paul Lambert has seen his attempt to resign as Norwich City manager rebuffed by the club's board.
The news comes amid reports that Lambert's representatives are in talks with Aston Villa about the vacancy at the club created by the sacking of Alex McLeish earlier this month.
A statement on Norwich's official website said: "The club regrets to inform that Paul Lambert has offered his resignation.
"We have fought hard to keep Paul at Norwich City and have not accepted his resignation whilst discussions with another club are taking place.
"However, whatever happens, we want to place on record our sincere gratitude for everything Paul has done for the club after the last three fantastic seasons."
Lambert has taken Norwich from League One to the Premier League, where they finished 12th this season, four places above Villa, who punished McLeish for a woeful league campaign.
Former Scotland international Lambert, who won the Champions League with Borussia Dortmund as a player, has also managed Livingston, Wycombe and Colchester.
