England goalkeeper Joe Hart was full of praise for his side's defensive application after they claimed a 1-0 victory over Belgium at Wembley on Saturday.

The Three Lions completed their preparations for Euro 2012 with a victory thanks to Danny Welbeck's first half strike, although Roy Hodgson's men had to stay diligent defensively as they were kept on the back foot for much of the contest.

Hart believes that resolute approach will serve them well come the tournament in Poland and Ukraine.

"It was a really good game for us," Hart told ITV. "Although it was slightly bitty at times, it was good to get the result against a strong Belgium side."

He added: "It seems that way, we've been very resilient so far. Danny finished his chance very well but we've got to improve in all areas.

"We need to trust each other a bit more on the ball and we'll do that during the tournament. It's going to be tough against France but we'll be united as a side and give it a damn good go.

"We're going to train hard and go into the game full of confidence."

There was some bad news for England, however, after Hodgson revealed there was a "distinct possibility" Gary Cahill will miss the Euros following a first half collision with Hart.
