EBU threatens to expel LBF over Haye-Chisora approval

The European Boxing Union has indicated that it will expel the Luxembourg Boxing Federation if David Haye's fight against Dereck Chisora goes ahead as planned.

The LBF is the sanctioning body behind Haye and Chisora's grudge match, which is set to take place at Upton Park on July 14.

That came after the British Boxing Board of Control refused to approve the bout - as they revoked Chisora's licence following a brawl with Haye after his world title fight against Vitali Klitschko earlier in the year.

The EBU has now added to the dissenting forces unhappy that the bout is set to go ahead, revealing that it will expel the LBF from its collective if it does sanction the fight.

"There was a meeting of the general assembly on Saturday," an EBU spokesman said. "As it stands the LBF are still in the EBU but if the July 14 fight does go ahead they will be out.

"The decision [the assembly came to] was with a great majority."

Despite the threats, however, organisers reportedly remain extremely confident the fight go ahead as expected - with the LBFstill seemingly fully committed to the event.

The BBBoC already intends to expel all those involved in the fight if it goes ahead as planned.
