Harry Redknapp feels the low expectations ahead of England's Euro 2012 campaign are unjustified, and is tipping Roy Hodgson to lead the national side to the last four of the competition.

England have been beset by a raft of injuries in the build-up to the tournament, with Chelsea defender Gary Cahill the latest to pull out of the squad. Meanwhile, star striker Wayne Rooney is suspended for the first two group matches following a sending off against Montenegro during qualifying.

And with Hodgson afforded only a brief window to impart his methods on the squad in the build-up to Poland and Ukraine, few are expecting England to be one of the leading contenders.

However, Redknapp, who was favourite to take over from Fabio Capello as manager before Hodgson's appointment, is feeling more optimistic.

"I think we underestimate ourselves," he told Sky Sports News. "We've got Champions League winners. I think there's every chance we could get to the semi-finals and, you know, who knows from there?"
