Illness sparks fears over Ashley Cole
Ashley Cole gave Roy Hodgson a fresh fitness concern ahead of England's Euro 2012 opener against France on Monday after he spent Thursday confined to bed with a stomach complaint.
Cole was taken ill after lunch and returned to the team hotel. He was the only member of the squad who failed to attend an official reception with the mayor of Krakow on Thursday night. A spokesman for the FA would only say that Cole was "resting".
It is understood that he will be assessed by medical staff before a decision is made whether he is fit to train although he is expected to be fully recovered in time for the France clash.
There was also good news for Hodgson regarding two other fitness doubts as both John Terry and Scott Parker told reporters they were ready to play against France.
"I'm fit," said Terry. "You heard it from the horse's mouth."
England train in Krakow today and tomorrow before flying to Donetsk on Sunday.
