Team GB boss Stuart Pearce has named Huddersfield striker Jordan Rhodes on his 35-man shortlist for London 2012.

Rhodes, 22, was prolific for Huddersfield last season, notching 40 goals as they earned promotion to the Championship via the play-offs.

He was rewarded with a call up to the full Scotland side, and made his debut in a friendly against Cyprus during November 2011. The Oldham-born hitman also scored eight times last term for Scotland Under-21s.

Huddersfield chief executive Nigel Clibbens told his club's official website: "Jordan is an amazing ambassador for Huddersfield Town and the football profession, with his great performances on the pitch complimented by his contribution to our community and the town off it.

"He is a top class individual and thoroughly deserves all the plaudits and success that is coming his way. The Football Association has decided not to make an official announcement over the 35-man squad, but has given individual clubs permission to announce their own players.

"Obviously we are tremendously proud of Jordan's achievements and wanted to publicly congratulate him on his inclusion."

Rhodes will find out if he has made the final 18-man squad during the first week of July.
