Theo Walcott has admitted England need to be more threatening in front of goal when they take on Sweden on Friday.

Roy Hodgson's Three Lions opened up their Euro 2012 campaign with a 1-1 draw against France. It was a game dominated by France with England carving out few clear-cut chances against the side billed as Group D favourites.

With games against Sweden and Ukraine to come, England have their destiny in their own hands and Walcott is aware of the need to carve out openings if they are to progress to the knockout stages.

"The game the other day was always going to be tough," Walcott told The FA's website. "A draw was a good start, but you can always improve.

"We have to score more goals because we don't concede many. We are training very hard and the Manager and staff have been great with all the preparation. We just have to make sure we do it for the fans on Friday and get the win.

"It is a solid start. Ukraine will be tough when we come to that game as well. We just have to think we need to win the next two games and don't worry about anyone else, but we will make sure we are ready."
