Corluka expects Modric to leave Tottenham

Vedran Corluka is predicting that Tottenham Hotspur could struggle to hold on to key player Luka Modric ahead of next season.

Modric, 26, was targeted by Premier League rivals Chelsea last summer, but the Blues failed to secure the playmaker's signature as Tottenham stood firm over their prized asset.

The Croatia international's future is again the subject of conjecture this summer, with Modric stating he will consider his next step after Euro 2012 amid reported interest from Manchester United and PSG.

And Modric's Spurs and Croatia team-mate Corluka believes Tottenham, who are on the hunt for a new boss following Harry Redknapp's departure, will struggle to hold on to the midfielder after they failed to clinch Champions League football.

"We all know it will be very difficult for Spurs to keep Luka because they do not have Champions League football next season," Corluka is quoted as saying in the Sun.

"Luka is one of the best players in the world and the kind who wants to play in the best competition. Not getting into the Champions League will cost Spurs next season, even though they were unlucky to get fourth place and still not be there."
