Chiellini a major doubt for quarter-final
Italy are sweating on the fitness of Giorgio Chiellini after the defender sustained a hamstring injury in Monday's 2-0 win versus Republic of Ireland.
Chiellini, 27, limped off in the second half of Italy's triumph against Ireland, with Leonardo Bonucci brought on as his replacement.
The defender now faces a race against time to be fit for Sunday's quarter-final tie - which could be against England, if the Three Lions end up finishing top of Group D.
Italy's team doctor Enrico Castellacci said: "These injuries never have immediate recovery periods, but we'll have to wait for the tests that we conduct in a couple of days."
Azzurri coach Cesare Prandelli, however, is optimistic Chiellini could be at his disposal. He said: "I have faith in our great physios and medical staff to get him ready."
