Alberto Aquilani's prospective return to Anfield could be off, with AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani confirming the Italian giants are not ruling out a move for the Liverpool midfielder.

Aquilani, 27, spent last season on loan at Milan and it was expected the player would turn his loan spell at the San Siro into a permanent switch.

However, Aquilani's agent, Franco Zavaglia, recently said his client was set to return to Liverpool - because nobody wants to sign him - although Galliani has intimated this is now not the case.

Milan have signed Kevin Constant on loan from Genoa, but Galliani said another midfielder would arrive and refused to rule out a move for the Liverpool man. "Before August 31, another midfielder will arrive," Galliani told Gazzetta dello Sport. "It could be Aquilani or somebody else. We haven't spoken yet to Aquilani. He is a Liverpool player."

Galliani, meanwhile, confirmed former Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini will leave the club this summer. Flamini, 28, signed for Milan on a free transfer from the Gunners in 2008 but he is now out of contract and has failed to reach an agreement over an extension.

"The time has expired for Flamini and we have already told his lawyer that we will not wait any longer," Galliani said.
